Uglybell is a design studio focused on creating unique crafted and painted by hand Eyewear Masterpieces. This innovative idea comes from our passion for design and art. Because of our speciality of making ordinary things into special things, we didn’t miss the opportunity to launch our idea. This gives us the freedom to create shapes, patterns and colours that we think are amazing. Each pair is unique, reflecting the uniqueness of each person wearing it.
As a lover of design and art, Nicholas Gikas used to transform everyday objects and gadgets into unique works of art with his personal touch. From his childhood, he had a constant urge to create something really special. He studied Industrial Design, and at the same time, as a street artist, he drew graffiti on the walls of the city he grew up in, Athens.
At the beginning of 2013 we came up with the idea of designing eyeglass frames. The result was exactly as he had thought: a colourful, vibrant and very authentic pair of glasses. The first impressions of family and friends were extremely positive. The reaction of the people who would bump into him when they met him outside wearing his sunglasses was something he could never have imagined, constantly asking where he bought those glasses and everyone was surprised when he replied that he created them himself.
This high demand leads to a new business idea and the creation of the Uglybell brand. The production takes place in a workshop full of ideas in Athens, where the main activity is the creation of glasses – artworks by hand.
As an innovative eyewear company, we pay great attention to the quality of the selected materials and guarantee the best quality standards.Just like a painting on canvas, Uglybell-Eyewear masterpieces have the personal taste and imagination of the artists themselves. We have developed a special coating process, which protects the frame from scratches and extreme weather conditions. With so many color patterns and textures, the most difficult thing is to limit yourself to just one pair of Uglybell-Eyewear Masterpieces. Every pair is unique like you!
